Gardening Group

Over the last few weeks our gardening crew have been working hard to get the garden looking really nice for summer.

We started by cleaning the slabs with the pressure washer.  This takes a lot of time and makes a bit of a mess but the patio looks great when it's done/.

Then we got down to the weeding and tidying up all the plants around the garden.  It looks so much nicer when everything is trimmed and tidy.

Then we turned our attention to the raised flower bed at the back of the centre.  This sometimes gets forgotten but this year we made a special effort to get it looking good.

Here are some pics of us doing the work in the garden

A big thank you to Morrisons

We recently held a Scottish theme day which included a Scottish typical meal.  We contacted the Community champion at Morrisons, Debbie Thulborn.

She supported the centre by giving us the food we would otherwise have had to buy.  Everyone had a great lunch with plenty to eat.  We all really enjoyed the meal and thought the sausages were excellent.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Debbie and to Dee Haynes who helped to do the shopping with our guys.

Love your Home Event fot June

As usual, we went to the Queen Mary Centre to join in with the Love you Home event on the 13th of June.

This is one of our favourite events of the month.  It's an event that we like to support and that has given us some very good things to do and people to meet.

This time we helped to get prepare art materials for sale and made some cakes.

We made rolls of sticky back plastic which we then tied with a bow.  We filled bags with felt and put  in leaflets.  Later we made some cakes with Carl

The next event will be on the 11th of July.  Go alnong and have a good time.

Scottish day

On Wednesday 14th of June we held our Scottish day.

During the morning we spent time making headdresses, decorations, and getting the lunch ready.  Some of us peeled a load of potatoes while others got the veg ready.

We then had to get the tables ready.  Everyone joined in to prepare the room and the food.

Then we got to the good bit, we all sat down and had lunch.

Sausages, mash,  mashed veg, onion gravy, and lemonade.

for pudding we had choc ices and strawberries.

Everyone really enjoyed the lunch ad left many empty plates. We all cleared up ready for the afternoon.

Later we coloured pictures of Nessie and played Scottish picture bingo.

After more tidying and washing up it time  to go home.  We all had a great day and are looking really looking forward to more theme days.

Please look at the post about Morrisons.  They helped us out a lot.

Making Money Count new website

We had a request to have a look at the new website for Making Money Count and tell them what we thought.

A group of 10 of us sat down one morning and had a really good look at all the pages on the site.  This is a new updated  version of the website.  It covers all aspects of anything related to money.

We thought that it was a really good place to go if you need help or advice about how to look after your money.  I has loads of information which is quite easy to find.

One of our favourite things about the site are all the links to other useful websites.  This includes sites that will help you to get a job, find out about how banks work, benefits, mobile phones, and many other subjects.  This means that the Make Money Count web site is a great place to go to find other useful sites.

We highly recommend this site for its content and ease of use.

Here is a link to the site.
